Over the last 30 years HBAWS has partnered with Habitat for Humanity – Forsyth, Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools Career Center and Forsyth Technical Community College (FTCC), raising funds annually for scholarships and to provide financially for students to build and remodel homes for Habitat for Humanity Forsyth. This partnership is an excellent way for both high school and technical college students to gain on-the-job training and real-life experience as they prepare for careers in the home-building industry.

As many professionals in the industry reach retirement age, there is a great need for hardworking, motivated individuals in a wide variety of jobs. HBAWS is committed to investing in students who are interested in construction technical education. Call 336.768.4942 for information about merit-based scholarships (for WSFCS Career Center Students applying for admission into the Construction, Electrical or Plumbing Curriculums at Forsyth Technical Community College).

Home Builders Association of Winston-Salem provides financial support to Habitat Forsyth to make it possible for both WSFCS Career Center and Forsyth Technical Community College construction students to build Habitat homes annually. Students in these two construction trades education programs are able to Learn a Skill and Master a Trade as they spend time in the classroom as well as onsite building.

Career Trades Education (CTE) holds the keys to the future of the home building industry. We need to educate parents and share the many opportunities in this industry for skilled trades graduates. A 4-year college degree is not the answer for every child to recognize their potential and follow their dreams.
